Had his graduation at Ravenshaw college Cuttack,and Post graduation under Patna university.Worked as publicity officer of Maharajah of Mayurbhanj for a short time, later on became a faculty of Utkal University as Professor of English.Retired in 1970 from Government service.Famous Oriya writer,critic,editor,and dramatist.His 2nd son Prof.Sumanyu satpathy had taken up his baton as Prof and Head of the Department of English in Delhi university.
