GOD AT WRONG PLACE:

A wrong system has crept in to the cultural, literary and scientific society of India, out of which only the Odisha scenario will be discussed here. In most of the meetings of any nature of importance, a politician or film star or a cricket player or  any permutation &combinations ,are invited  as chief guest or guest of honour so that there will be  a good media coverage and public gathering. The beginning is colorful to keep the public and the chief guests entertained out of which one event pops out like a sore thumb.

Yes your guess is right—it’s the lamp lighting ceremony. Long long back there was no such formality. Later days it was a single brass lamp but with two too many to ignite the oil socked cotton roll, now we have two or three Decker lamp stands. A beautiful lady with nicely groomed hair, wearing a silk saree,well pefumed, with ear to ear smile will hand over a lighted candle to the chief guest. Behind this lamp stand will be the Lord Jaganath kept on a stool or chair. Why in a scientific seminar or a drama or book release or inaugural function the lord Jaganath should be humiliated on the dais? His place is in the temple not in a 5* hotel or an auditorium. The VIPs will be served soft drinks with chicken or fish fry in the same hall where the helpless Lord would be watching it with his wide open eyes. Can anyone do the same to the God of other religions in the same way?

Why in first place Lord Jaganath will be put on the dais? The real god whoever he may be (may or may not be from the list of 33crores of Hindu gods or from other religions) is omnipresent, omniscient, eternal, unseen& indescribable.

 Then one should not complain if some lady puts of a cloth, anywhere in the body with photos of deities of worship? No one has the guts not to follow this pseudo religious method of keeping a God’s idol or photo on the dais in any type of meeting. If someone objects then the fundamentalist are there to make hell out of this issue.

Let this practice be abandoned at least by the educational and scientific institutions and we should follow simple informal ethics of meeting &cultural functions on time without these irritating trailers.

LUNG CANCERS AMONGST WOMAN

CANCERS OF LUNG AMONGST WOMAN:

 Some twenty years back I observed that the people working in kitchen of our hospital and steel plant canteen were suffering from cancers more than the people of same age group working elsewhere in the plant. That time I thought it might be due to their over eating habits and heat inside the kitchens. Now I am more puzzled to find more number of  woman suffering from cancers of lungs.(Now I work as a consultant in a cancer hospital of Bhubaneswar).Most of the Indian woman do not smoke but the recent spurt of lung cancers raises certain question and its time we should prevent it and educate our house wives.

Cooking fumes produced during high-temperature frying are already known to cause cancer. In China, high lung cancer rates among cooks have been linked to the practice of tossing food in a wok, often in a confined space, which increases the concentration of hot oil in the breathing zone of the cook. Cooking fumes are thought to cause lung cancer, as well as cancers of the bladder and cervix. Previous research has found that cancer levels are higher among chefs who did not have fume extractors in their kitchens than among those who did.

Researchers suggest that it is exposure to cooking fumes that accounts for the high rates of lung cancer in women, despite their low smoking rates. A study by researchers from the Institute of Medicine at Kaohsiung University in Taiwan published in the American Journal of Epidemiology in 2000 found that the longer women spent cooking food the higher the risk of lung cancer. Those who cooked on a daily basis had the highest risk. Women who waited until the oil was very hot before cooking the food increased their risk compared with those who cooked at a lower temperature.

Cooking gas used for cooking causes more problems to the house wives who spend long hours in cramped up kitchen without proper ventilation or exhaust fans. The cooking gas is a composition of propane and butane which are hydrocarbons. There is high level of pollutants in the air plus the dust and hours of cooking inside the kitchen puts Indian house wife and cooks at a higher risk of different cancers.

My suggestions are: 1: Good exhaust fans in kitchens 2: Less deep frying of non vegetarian food3: Less hours in kitchen4: If the lady is a smoker, she should be told about the high risks.5: Periodic Check up of cooks and house wives.6: Less of gas and coal cooking7: more of electric or convention cooking.8: Public awareness9: Avoid cooking during early stages of pregnancy.10: Balanced diet to the house wives & rest from cooking.

So readers do not think that because you do not smoke you are not going to have lung cancer is sheer ignorance. With so much pollution, dusts, hydrocarbons, smoke, diesel fumes, fire works during festivals, agarbati, match stick gas and burning Ghats fumes worst days are ahead for us. Please be careful.

On 28th after noon Dr.Sardhananda Mishra died while in sleep.He loved his village so much so that he spent more than 2/3rd of his post retirement life there.He was planning to build a temple at his parental village.
He did his graduation from orissa agriculture University then did his higher study at Delhi and left for USA for his PhD.He was a very jovial person and would help any one who came forward for his support.He died at 80 years of age.He has left behind his wife and a son.His daughter died due to post operative complications in 70s.We miss you CHOTU NANA.(his nick name).Good Bye.

A ball is fairly delivered in respect of the arm if, once the bowler's arm has reached the level of the shoulder in the delivery swing, the elbow joint is not straightened partially or completely from that point until the ball has left the hand. This definition shall not debar a bowler from flexing or rotating the wrist in the delivery swing.

When a fast bowler chucks the ball travel faster say from 140 kilometers/hour to 150, but with the protections available to the batsman they are not afraid of fast bowling.The other advantage for the batsman is if they put the bat on the ball it travel faster to boundary for a four or six.Fast bowlers run up is long hence most NO balls are bowled by fast bowlers resulting in free hits.Where as in case of a spinner if he chucks then the ball turns more, gets a sudden bounce,and difficult to play as the ball travels faster.But the reason best known to ICC, suddenly the number of chuckers playing international cricket has gone up in recent years. Majority of chuckers are from SriLanka, Pakistan,India,BD , few from SA and recently WI has joined the party.The authority has bent the rules to accommodate some players in past and that mistake is proving to be a big headache.The rules have been framed in such a way that more and more chuckers play the game.Money factor has ruined this gentleman's game.

MOCKERY OF MAHATMA GANDHI:

Every year on October 2^nd India celebrates Gandhi Jayanti as a national holiday and goes on picnic mode. Just by asking schools for a fancy dress competition on Gandhi is not the proper way to celebrate his birthday and pay respect to Bapu.It has a political smell smeared all over this show biz for photo secession. So much so that some world leaders have attached Gandhi’s name with their life just to fool the public even though they eat all sorts of nonveg food. Many children even do not know who he is? Some illiterate people think present Gandhi’s as his relation and vote. When a child came out of a cinema hall watching David Attenborough- “GANDHI”, he asked his father --then who is the real Gandhi? This is not the proper way to remember this great man

Some of my readers have commented on the topic "certified country ".It appears they are not aware of the Indian scenario about cars and car loans and termination of pregnancy.My point was to press up on the public that no law can change the attitude of these people.Government has some double standard ie they want poor people to have more children who are their vote banks but show off as if they are concerned about the population.The greatest enemy of woman is another women , you ask any lady.

I stick to my point that alcohol,drugs, perverted  form of sex including homosexuality are  real problems of the Indian society.

BRILLIANT PERSONALITY

Those who have not seen this man then they are unfortunate. Uttam Kumar was especially adored for his effortless naturalism in front of the camera.. Often hailed as the one-man industry, he dominated Bengali cinema for three decades until his death. His real name was Arun kumar Chatterjee.I have watched movies of great film personality but Uttam Kumar stands out tall amongst them.He would have been 86 years one month tomorrow.
