MEETING CULTURE IN INDIA

Lighting a Lamp: (धर्म निरपेक्ष)

This practice is secular or non secular, we do not know. Everyone know the true meaning of lighting a lamp but we are dragging things too far.The belief that religion should not be involved with the ordinary social and political activities of a country is secular! This annoying practice is spreading like ‘terrorist activities’ in each and every function. This part has become the pivotal point in any functions. A day will come when the batsman or bowler will light a lamp and then enter the field! Even in scientific seminars this ‘secular’ practice is being followed. A fair complexioned lady with gelled hair style and a colorful silk sari with an ear to ear smile would hand over a candle to the VIP guest to light the lamp. In Hindu cultural festivals it’s OK, but not in every functions in any auditorium or halls? No one has the guts to say no to this practice? Every one say we are secular but they go to functions ever prepared with half shoes or slippers! This practice was not followed when we were school and college students but of late it’s quite disturbing part of a function. Why can’t the meeting and seminars start in time? Why to invite politicians in medical or other scientific functions and waits for few hours for his arrival?
If we are secular then this function must stop immediately at least in scientific seminars. Do we have the guts?
