OLD AGE MISERIES:

OLD AGE MISERIES:
Living for long, has its draw backs. If it’s a male member in a joint family then things are different, but staying with a wife who too is crippled with diseases, then it’s a miserable life. Women adjust quickly to a lonely life, not a retired officer who was used to helping hand at every step of daily routine. Some officers even do not know how to fillip a tax return or a cheque in a bank or stand in a queue?
Earlier day’s wife’s age used to be six or eight years less than the husband’s. But we find many modern couples where the wife is two to four years or even older in age than the living in partner or the husband!
No human being wants to die, except mentally deranged persons, who commit suicide on flimsical grounds. With the joint family concept gone, old age sufferings are everywhere in our society, mostly in middle class society. With less money people used to live longer and happily but not in the present setup. Every field you need monetary help. The author personally knows few families where the male members literally beg for money from their wife because of financial constrains, wife keeps a check on her husband’s unnecessary spending. The conflict in some families between husband and wife is on this monetary aspect. Some of the retired officer does not get pension hence he finds it difficult to continue his sophisticated showoff style of life. Slowly and slowly he withdraws himself and become lonelier.
Diseases are the greatest hurdle in old age. Some with knee problem some with heart problem become incapacitated and gets confined to their four walls of the house. Sons do not stay neither the old man wants  to stay with them but send money as and when required .From outside it appears a happy family but in reality it’s a sad bad life. Even some Hindi films have tried to exploit the sentiments of old people by producing glorified films of old age. It’s not that rosy without family support and money.
Let’s learn from the ants and keep something for our old age - rainy seasons.
