MENTAL DISORDERS: Part-II

2.Human body has two systems, one the physical and the other the psychic. Treating only the physical part will be a failure in treatment. A person was having chest pain which he thought was a cardiac problem. The cardiologist advised him for a bypass surgery. Only the skin was incised and no surgery was performed. Surprisingly his so called ‘cardiac pain’ disappeared! A family member was told and written consent taken about this experiment beforehand. Many of you who have under gone by pass or stenting think that they are living because of the ten lakhs medical bill paid by their insurance company. But in actual fact it’s their change in life style which has helped them to live longer. They have stopped cigarette, alcohol, rich food, mutton, eggs, take fourteen tablets sleep early and go for daily morning walk.
                                                 3. Most of us have obsessive disorders or go into depression at some time or other. Recent death of a family member results in depression amongst some family members. Anxiety is another very common problem with all of us, those who tackle it remains cool, others run from top floor to ground floor!
Here are few disorders which most of us had or have—depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, change in appetite and weight, weakness and loss of energy, feeling of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt, loss of concentration, poor decision making steps, fear of death and suicide. At times I too feel worthlessness but soon overcome it through my hobby and family support. Remember nuclear families have more mental problems than joint families!
Have a nice day friends and enjoy—life is short do not make it shorter by brooding or comparing your status with your friends or relatives.
